Instructions for Sellers

We collect books from sellers throughout the Bookswap, and also hold a special collection period during finals week each semester. Those interested in selling their textbooks at the Bookswap should either bring them to Nord during the Swap, or look for us in Nord atrium during finals. We generally have collection representatives in Fribley, Thwing, and many of the dorms as well! However, you have a much better chance of getting your book sold if you give it to us during the finals collection week. Plus, it means you don't need to haul your textbooks home for the summer only to bring them back next year!

When we collect your books you will need to determine a price for your book. We encourage you to search our database prior to bringing us your books: this will give you an idea of the price range at which you can sell the book. Also be sure to check the bookstore's site to ensure you know which class the book is for.

All of your books will be labeled and identifiable as yours if you want to reclaim or change the price of your book later.

We will then have you sign the seller agreement and give us all necessary information.

We will then give you a reciept and take your books.

At this point, we take your book and will put it up for sale at the Bookswap. When your book sells, you will recieve a notification e-mail. On the Thursday or Friday of the Bookswap you can then come to the Bookswap to pick up your money minus our comission.

If your book does not sell then you have the option of taking it back or you can leave it with us, at no cost, and try to sell it again the next semester.

Comission Rates:

There is no charge for unsold books.
The commission rate is 10% of the sale price of all books sold, rounded up to the nearest dollar
All commissions are rounded up to the nearest dollar.
Books under $10 will be combined into one total and charged one commission
